The Book of Mormon was awarded nine Tony Awards, one of which was for Best Musical, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

The Book of Mormon follows two young missionaries who are sent to Uganda to try to convert citizens to the Mormon religion. One missionary, Elder Price, is an enthusiastic go-getter with a strong dedication to his faith, while his partner, Elder Cunningham, is a socially awkward but well-meaning nerd whose tendency to embroider the truth soon lands him in trouble.

Upon their arrival in Africa, Elders Price and Cunningham learn that in a society plagued by AIDS, poverty and violence, a successful mission may not be as easy as they expected. Contains explicit language.

We will be sitting in rows 23 & 24 towards the middle. This kept ticket prices under $100. Plan ahead and arrive at least 30 to 60 minutes before the show starts. Latecomers will be seated at an appropriate interval, which is determined by the show itself.

Payment received guarantees your ticket. We have purchased 15 tickets

Book of Mormon is presented at Gammage Auditorium, located at 1200 S Forest Ave, Tempe 85281. Free parking is available at the theatre. Full details can be found at www.ASUGammage.com

We're staying with our traditional holiday theme. Turkey and Ham, with all the fixings! This Christmas feast will be prepared by our buddy Christine, and once again, we're asking everyone to bring a side dish, appetizer or dessert. There will be Italian Style Portobello mushrooms for vegetarians. This event is BYOB (Adult Beverages).

Our infamous white elephant gift exchange will continue this year, so please bring a wrapped-up and fun used gift. These gifts will be anonymously exchanged while we're gathered around the festive Christmas tree. We really need everyone to let us know by July 1st using the registration feature on our website, regarding what food you will be bringing to share. We want to manage our Christmas feast the best way possible.

And of course, what's Christmas without a pool, so don't forget a swimsuit and towel!

Join your Desert Adventures friends for an afternoon of sun, swimming, great conversation and fantastic food!

If you’re able to help set up and cleanup for this event, please let Jon know in advance at (602) 539-9611

It’ll still be GRAND, but we’re going to Lake Powell this year.

Unfortunately every day in September was gamed/booked by all the tour groups, we didn’t have a chance.  So we looked around for something different. We’ve booked two adjacent group campsites for tenters 2 & 3 in the Wahweap Campground in Lake Powell, AZ.  We’ll have two ramadas, nearby bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, and no parking restrictions. There are also nearby sites for those who want to bring up their own RV.

Besides the fabulous nearby water feature, there is boating, hiking, fishing, shopping, and the natural beauty of Rainbow Bridge.

The Saturday dinner will be Chicago-themed, think sliders, Chicago hot dogs (no ketchup allowed), and Italian Beef.  Bring your Chicago swag to show off, a side dish or desert is also appreciated.  Because of the ramadas, we don’t even need to be concerned about possible weather issues. Cocktails and appetizers will start around 5pm and dinner will follow when Stan says it’s ready.  The weather will be a high in the mid 80’s and in the upper 50’s at night, and the drive from Phoenix (the ranchette) is about a four hour drive, around 250 miles.

Mystery Castle is a Phoenix Point of Pride, named as such by the Phoenix Pride Commission. It was built by Boyce Luther Gulley, who abandoned his wife and daughter in Seattle, circa 1927, after learning that he had tuberculosis. He traveled to Phoenix and started building a "castle" that he had promised to his little girl once while building sand castles on a beach. Mary Lou Gulley was a toddler when her father unexpectedly left and never returned.

Boyce Gulley lived longer than he thought he would, and he spent 15 years building his dream house. Interestingly enough, he did not die of tuberculosis.

Boyce Gullet left instructions for his wife and daughter, to whom he left the house, that there was a trap door in the house that should not be opened for two years after his death. His wife and daughter complied with his request. The trap door is located in a room that was called "purgatory" (between the chapel and the bar!). You'll hear what the mystery contents were when you take the tour.

After the tour we will enjoy lunch at Los Dos Molinos which is 5 minutes away. Let us know if you want to join us so that we can make reservations.

    REGISTRATION WILL OPEN SOON

Your Desert Adventures family will once again be serving home-cooked turkey and delicious honey glazed ham. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share and your own adult beverages; we'll have soft drinks and water.

We really need everyone to register by November 16th so that we know what you will be bringing to share. We want to manage our Thanksgiving feast the best way possible. We need to limit the number of attendees to 25, including our host Paul, so if you are interested in joining your DA family for this holiday, please REGISTER & pay! If you cannot make it after registering, please let us know so we can ensure everyone who wishes can join us.

Tour Arizona's only working olive farm & mill. You will learn about their products & farm, their unique olive tree varieties, see how Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made, the different classes of Olive Oil & the health benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Queen Creek Olive Millis home to one of the most exclusive gourmet marketplaces in Arizona. Inside, you will find our selection of signature Extra Virgin Olive Oils, tapenades, stuffed olives, and balsamic vinegars as well as our line of Olivespa products. In addition to our branded products, we also carry a wide variety of local and directly imported wines, specialty cheeses, imported Italian ceramics from Tuscany, and unique local treasures ranging from honey and chocolate, to jewelry, cookbooks and kitchenware.

Christmas is just 9 days away, so shop for unique gifts & local foods. The Olive Mill’s unique gift boxes are perfect for those hard to shop for. The Queen Creek Olive Mill is the only producer of Arizona Extra Virgin Olive Oil & is used by top chefs in Arizona, so your gift will be uniquely Arizonan. They also have a nice array of wines.

Eagle Ridge Group Campground is in a Ponderosa Pine setting 1/4 mile from Lynx Lake, which is accessible by car or by foot.  The lake has a boat ramp. There are 12+ hiking trails in the area. A private concession at the north end of the lake offers boat rentals, a store, firewood and a restaurant.

This is a primo tenting area with 9 dedicated tenting pads ranging from small to huge. There is room for 2 pop-ups or small trailers and parking spots can be used for cab-overs.

You can arrive anytime after 1pm on Thursday. We have the Osprey group site, which is the 1st & largest. The site features: picnic tables under a lighted Ramada, fire pit, barbeque grills, drinking water, 2 vault toilets & garbage service. Check out time on Sunday is 11 am. There is also a charging station for phones and such.

Please bring some firewood. Your moderately behaved dogs are welcome. There is a campground host on-site who might enforce the pets on leash rule. Quiet time is from 10 pm till 6 am. A kettle and bottled water will be available at the Ramada so bring your instant coffee, cocoa, cider or tea along with your favorite mug.

On Friday afternoon around 4pm, we will have a social and DA will provide the snacks & water. On Saturday morning, there will be a hike around Lynx Lake.

To keep the trip fees reasonable but also covering the cost of this group site, dinner will be no-host and at the nearby Chinese Buffet Restaurant.

Your trip leaders will once again be Mountain Men Joe&Hans who can be reached at Lynx@ComputerComprehension.com or 602-708-9691 (text only)
